People think that if there is discomfort in purpose and passion there is something wrong. A student posted a question on Quora stating they (not sure of the gender) they are two months from graduating and have no passion to do things including studying. Some of the respondents offered advice like “create a list,” and “go to your guidance counselor and take a bunch of aptitude tests.” The truth is that in purpose and passion there is work.
My Morning Gratitude
I am grateful I know the road to purpose is not easy and living on purpose take work. So many times, people stop following their passion because they get tired, burnt out, or because it’s too much work. I thank God I am not one of them.
Don’t Mistake the Still Shots for Never-Ending Bliss
Most people don’t pay attention to a successful person’s journey. They just see the post-finish line joy. They also mistake the riches as success. People with a higher purpose have a far-reaching mission and a passion to do something to make a difference in the world. The joy comes from the impact they make in people’s lives and all the rest that follows is like the extra trimmings on the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Purpose and Passion is not for the Superficial or the Lazy
I am not a purpose coach to convince people to seek their purpose and passion, instead, I am here for the ones that want it more than I want it for them. I am thankful I’ve learned that the people who want you to do all the work for them or the ones that my passion supersedes their desire are not part of my tribe. Living on purpose for a purpose is exhilarating but it takes work.
Gratitude is Your Fuel Booster
There are many days I am running on fumes. The truth is, purpose is an around-the-clock endeavor. The passion behind my purpose takes me through the not-so-much-fun tasks. Gratitude is the fuel booster that keeps the “environmental” stuff from diluting my passion.• It allows me to see the bigger picture.
- It allows me to appreciate the benefits that come from the work.
- It reminds me that without God, none of what I am doing is possible.
Start your day with gratitude and share your gratitude. The more we are individually and cumulatively grateful, the bigger the light. It is that light that shines on the opportunities we would otherwise not see. And that’s a blessing.
Your work produces blessings. Gratitude adjusts your attitude. It also increases your blessings and revs your passion.
