Even though I am on a tight schedule, I can’t start my day without gratitude. Of course, there are a one million and one reasons to be grateful — here are my top three.
1. I am Thankful I get to Honor my Friend, Stephanie
Stephanie is having a 50th birthday celebration. We’ve known each other since our (now) college kids were in pre-school. We’ve become close friends — no — sisters the past couple of years. She’s amazing, she’s funny, she’s compassionate — she defines “best friend”. Happy Birthday, Stephanie.
2. Grace on Facebook
I thank God for my Facebook friends — yeah really!! They have been gracious and supportive. I had a lovely post on my page intended to embarrass and humiliate me. My Facebook friends were pretty amazing. They not only graciously ignored the post, they went out of their way to bring the content “back to normal” on my feed. They did not have to do that, but they did and that is pretty awesome.
3. I am Thankful for Inner Strength
I am thankful for inner strength. Doing the right thing does not always feel good — at least at first. I used to have anxiety about worrying what people thought of me. It didn’t stop me from doing what’s right, but I felt I needed to defend myself. At this stage of my life, I do not feel like I need to defend who I am. Still, I am grateful that when it comes to my core values, self-esteem and inner strength have no correlation.
I feel more connected to God when I start my day with gratitude. It puts a brighter outlook on my day because I am always seeing the blessings. I dare you to try it!
