Morning Gratitude: The Top Three Reasons Sasha Was Rescued (and Why I’m Grateful)
People show who they are in the middle of a crisis. I had friends working behind the scenes to rescue Sasha, my sister’s family pet. I am grateful for the people who led to Sasha’s rescue. First, let me tell you a bit about Sasha.
Sasha’s Back Story
My brother, who is a postal mail carrier, inherited two dogs. I only mention his job, because I think the dogs may have come from someone on his route that couldn’t care for them. The two dogs never mated, and as luck would have it, they mated before my brother could spade and neuter them. Unfortunately, the mother died in childbirth. My brother nursed the pups. Sasha was one of those pups.
With that said, here are the top three reasons Sasha was rescued and why I am grateful:
1. Kristel Goodspeed-Correa Cared
Kristel and I have been Facebook friends for years. We met through a Lupus network and have been friends ever since. To no surprise, Kristel shared my status to help find an organization to rescue Sasha. She, along with other Facebook friends, relentlessly asked for updates. Kristel lives in Illinois. Goodspeed works on Godspeed. I am thankful for this good egg. She’s passionate and viciously compassionate!
2. Val Stewart Cared
Val Stewart is one of Kristel’s Facebook friends. She directed Kristel to Harvey Houston Animal Rescues’s Facebook page. She, in turn, sent the information to me. Thank you, Val!
3. Harvey Houston Animal Rescue Took Action
Don’t let the name fool you — this is a few citizens that wanted to help, so they made a Facebook page to get the word out to contact them if anyone knew of a stranded animal. I posted a message on their Facebook page and in less than 24 hours, they rescued Sasha! They not only rescued Sasha, they ensured she was evaluated and are patiently waiting for her human parents to get her.
I am so grateful for ordinary people that do extraordinary things. Please remember we are all human and be kind to the volunteer. My slogan for my blog is people helping the people who help people. Even if you have nothing to give, take time to let your Facebook friends know about anyone who put their life on the line for you. Thank you, Kristel and Val. Thank you to the person who risked her life to rescue Sasha.
