I am grateful for spiritual awareness because it allows me to see God’s work as it unfolds. I picture God running this spiritual control center. He does not press a button until we signal (through some action) we are ready. Then, blessings just start oozing out. My ability to be present, allows me to see how God’s blessings unfold. He does not work like a magician, rather, it is a cooperative activity — we do work then He does the heavy lifting.
Spiritual consciousness allows you to:
- appreciate and expect growth when you are in tough circumstances. Oh yeah, that’s called faith.
- eagerly work with God to “dispense” healing.
- appreciate the work friends and loved ones instead of dwelling on past mistakes.
Spiritual Awareness has Increased my Faith
Goodness! Some of my struggles play out in a public way. I have had my share of private meltdowns and have isolated myself from time-to-time. Last year while meditating, I heard, “Do your best and God’s got the rest.” Each day I work on being a better version of me. In my most dire and insecure times, I remember that the impossible became possible only when I acted responsibly. I have come to rely on my faith and not my feelings.
Spiritual Awareness Allows me to be God’s Vessel
After having a heartfelt conversation with my niece, my son told me, “That was amazing. How did you know to do that?” “I” didn’t do anything. I spoke from a deeper place, far above my spiritual pay grade. Jowanna, the human, can be very erratic and graceful as an elephant (especially when my foot is constantly in my mouth).
A few morning gratitude posts ago, I wrote about realizing my niece’s trauma was getting in the way of her day-to-day progress. Since then, her world became brighter and less scary. Each morning, I pick up another one of my nieces for school (we’ll call her Ellen). When I would ask my niece to go ring the doorbell, she would say it was “scary.” Since we had our breakthrough, she skips to the door and rings the doorbell.
First, how cool is it that I am on God’s team? And it is so awesome to notice the little things; the delight is that joy is born of the things most people don’t notice.
Spiritual Awareness Helps me See the Good
Awareness keeps me present and allows me to stay in the moment. I have been able to appreciate growth in my husband and friends. I noticed that while I have been busy working on the better version of me, some of my friends have done the same thing. It reminds me why I love the people in my life. It also allows me to make better choices on whom I call a friend.
Awareness has been a little jewel that has:
- strengthen my faith
- added me to God’s spiritual payroll
- put my focus on who the people I love are today
So, folks, these are a few of the reasons why I am thankful for spiritual awareness.
