I go in and out of my house without thinking. Often times we take our most essential things like food, shelter, and safety for granted. That’s why I thank God for shelter. It affords me so many things and here are three of them.
1. My Shelter Protects Me From the Weather
My dogs hate to go outside when it rains. I usually have to force them to go out. One day I was taking out the puppies to make sure they relieved themselves. The cold rain hit me so hard, it startled me. No wonder they do not like outside. Yes, I remember to put their raincoats on them now and I am grateful I don’t have to pee outside … that much.
2. My Shelter Provides Security
I could not imagine sleeping outside under a bridge or in the streets. I feel safe in my home. When I turn in at night, I go to sleep without worry. I may not be guaranteed safety but having a shelter means I have a lower risk of coming across danger.
3. My Shelter Is Comforting
I am a homebody. I love being at home especially if I need to get away from everything. I have my comfort room, my bible, my family, and my pets — what more do I need? Oh yeah, the shelter that houses it all.
Even though I take my shelter for granted, it does not mean that I am not thankful for it. I am grateful that God has blessed me itr. Even more, I am thankful my shelter is my home.
