GM foot soldiers! It is Gratitude Monday. I have discussed my latest “jump” on my vlog post two weeks ago. The price to dance with my joy is giving up security. I have had more than my share of anxiety and panic over the last couple of weeks. As my multi-class reunion event neared, I did not know how I could afford to take a weekend away from working; however, I decided for the first time in a long time, not to think about work.
This weekend I was able to enjoy the thrill of going to high school in a small town. To enjoy laughs, love and memories with people who entered my life over 30 years ago was a treat. I was so nervous when I started Liberty High. I felt so alone, scared and like the scrapings off the bottom of the barrel. The shock of losing my mom and being separated for my siblings had not worn off yet. This was something many I went to school with did not know.
I enjoyed school! For the most part, the students were super nice whether they were part of the popular group or not. Now I see that it was not that I was hiding what I went through — I was doing that thing that is so popular now … living in the moment. That’s the same thing I did this weekend, lived in the moment and the joy of connecting, loving and sharing stories was more valuable than any of my “big” contracts in my profession.
People underestimate the power of small town humbleness with lack of success — I am not one of them. My small town heart has led to my biggest success. That heartfelt connection breeds many blessings. Thank you Liberty High thank you for welcoming my hottie! I love the fact that I know where there are Panthers there are people who will welcome strangers.
Life is simple. Joy is simple. Connecting with the heart is simple. All the complications are human-made. Remember foot soldiers, gratitude improves your attitude and increases your blessings. I would love to hear from those that went to the reunion. What are you grateful for?
This post is dedicated to everyone that made the Liberty High School multi-class reunion possible. Great job and I look forward to next year!!!
