3 Ways to Let Loose in 2014
Believe it or not, I am not naturally comfortable in a crowd. I don’t know what to do with my hands. I dread walking across the room and I immediately look for a familiar face. Now when you strike up a conversation with me one on one or in a small group, I thrive! I even had a mini meltdown at work and at home thinking about the official launch of Daley Word.

While I still have anxiety, I realized that if I was going to live my life on purpose, I had to face the fact that I just might make a fool of myself. I have learned to go to a safe place. When I was a child, I could try almost anything because no one expected anything from me. That is where the concept of dancing like no one can see me came about. I lived in my own bubble and achieved a lot in that bubble.
Here are three simple things you can do to help let loose in 2014 and dance like nobody’s watching … even if you are on center stage!
1. Soul search
You’ve got to dig deep. What are you afraid of? What is the worst thing that would happen if your worst nightmare came true? Say it out loud. Talk to your pastor, get a counselor or call the EAP line at work. You can’t get anywhere without checking under the hood. If you’re not an auto mechanic, then find one.
2. Call on your support system
While I do believe in the importance of professional help, I also know that having a support system is crucial. Let your friends and trusted loved ones know what you are trying to do. I am sure they will be able to identify. Make a specific point to go to the one confidant who looks like she is able to conquer the world. You’ll be surprised how much the most successful person in your circle can relate to what you are going through.
3. Crawl first
Start small or else you might get overwhelmed. If your dream is to start a beauty business, then give friends free makeovers. Let friends on your social media know what you are trying to do and how you feel about it. Post a before and after shot of some of your work and see what kind of response you get. It is not others you are trying to convince with these steps–you are the one who needs convincing.
Living on purpose requires you to either overcome your fears or go for your goals despite your fears. No it won’t be easy and yes you will have some setbacks. One thing is for sure: Bigger challenges yield bigger rewards so let loose in 2014!
Happy New Year!
